Rosetown and District Health Centre – Rose Villa
In 2009, the Government of Saskatchewan announced the replacement of 13 long-term care facilities, including the 28-bed Wheatbelt Centennial Lodge built in 1967, and 21 long-term care beds in the Rosetown & District Health Centre, to improve healthcare services across the province.
Inspired by the Small House concept, ft3 designed the facility to accommodate 54 private long-term care beds divided into ten or 11 resident household configurations.
The facility is adjacent to the health centre and combines long-term and acute care to create sustainable care in smaller rural communities. Staffing shares spaces and supports such as housekeeping, laundry, dietary services, maintenance and administration, creating efficiencies for ongoing operations. Added benefits include providing support for seniors within their home community, attracting medical professionals with an innovative medical facility to practice in and residents due to available medical resources.
