Living Gospel Church Family Place
Initially established as a Bible study group and fellowship in the late 80s operating from a one-bedroom apartment, the Living Gospel Church (LGC) now oversees two buildings with over 300 members. LGC also offers meal programs, refugee sponsorship, and various outreach programs within Winnipeg's Centennial neighbourhood.
In 2011, LGC partnered with Manitoba Housing to develop an affordable 38-resident family housing complex and community space on William Avenue, providing support services to immigrant and refugee families living in the city.
The design of LGC Family Place promotes movement, gathering, and socialization throughout shared spaces in the new community housing facility.
While the main floor includes LGC offices, it also accommodates a large multipurpose room with kitchen and storage services alongside an expansive meeting and recreational space that staff, residents, and volunteers can subdivide into four classrooms. This area also hosts local non-profit organizations granting support such as Welcome Place and the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba.
The remaining floors feature one-to-five-bedroom layouts to fit various family sizes and a spacious communal room on the third floor has an adjacent, private outdoor terrace that offers an alternative space (to individual suite balconies) for hosting, socializing, and cultural sharing between building residents and community members.
