With a French Baroque-inspired form, Castle Gardens of Sterling Gates brings a European elegance to Sterling Lyon Parkway, an active thoroughfare in Winnipeg’s south end. 

As the owner, developer, and contractor, Crystal Properties sought to celebrate classical architecture with a ‘castle-like’ setting, while at the same time, avoiding replicating the finer details of the French Château style. 

The design concept reconciled these interests by blending historical French architecture such as the mansard roof and contrasting light and dark colours with contemporary finishes and detailing.

Materials and textures further emphasize this design approach by maximizing beautiful proportions, elegant refinements, and historical richness to invoke vibrant, enjoyable, tranquil, and inviting interior and exterior spaces. Moreover, due to the railway line to the west and busy high-speed artery to the south, the design also prioritized tenant safety and acoustic comfort.

The team worked with Crystal Properties to ensure design value at each stage while optimizing timelines and cost. At seven storeys and 154 suites, Castle Gardens offers unparalleled convenience and atmosphere within a contemporary suburban setting.
